N.C. Wedding Photographer Photographs Amazing Latino Wedding

April 6, 2013 was an awesome day! The skies were blue and the sun was shining- a perfect day for Nely and Angel to marry!  It was such a pleasure and honor to experience all of the traditions of their awesome Latino culture!

As you can see, Nely was absolutely breathtaking!
Every little detail was photographed…
If you ever go to El Amigo Mexican Restaurant in Kannapolis, you will always see Angel there with a big smile on his face! He definitely had lots to smile about on this day!The bride and groom each arrived at the church in classic vintage cars! How exciting!
The ceremony was rich with all the traditions of a Latino wedding!
The reception, at The Charles Mack Civic Center, of course was top-notch, with Chelish Moore‘s decorating and flowers. They also had a DJ, a band, and a mariachi band to bring in the night. Nely even changed dresses to get ready to party! We are pretty sure everyone had a really great time at this awesome celebration!
As you can see, these two are just made for each other!
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Mr & Mrs Angel Atilano for letting us capture your wedding day for you! Here’s to a long and healthy life!  Felicitaciones. Les deseamos a ambos toda la felicidad del mundo.

Good Times Roll at the PPNC Convention!

Every year when March rolls around we get really excited! It is one of our favorite times of the year because the Professional Photographers of North Carolina hold their annual state convention in Raleigh!

Convention means educational classes, hanging out with our buddies, a Saturday night party, a wonderful trade show, and much, much more!

For the past ten years, our team has been in charge of creating the set and photographing members at the party. Members and friends can then purchase 5x7s from the event to benefit the PPNC Scholarship Fund.

This year’s party theme was “The Yellow Brick Road”, with the Band of Oz performing and lots of hilarious posing in front of the yellow brick road mural (created by our very own artist Megan Olson)!

Karen was very entertaining as the Wicked Witch!

Print competition is always a crazy, nerve-wracking time for photographers. We put what we think are our best images out there to be judged to see how good we really are! Sometimes the results bring joy! Sometimes not so much…

However, once again, Irresistible Portraits fared pretty well in this year’s competition. Karen won awards in three different categories!

For the third straight year, Karen won first place for a wedding album.

“Nick and Anna”

Karen also won 2nd place for a wedding candid.

“In the Spotlight for a Day”

Karen also won 3rd place in portrait of a woman.

“Ivy”

Our friends at the NorthEast Foundation sent Karen this sweet congratulations note when she returned!

Just further confirmation that Karen Goforth is AWESOME!

If you’d like to experience a little of Karen’s awesomeness, give us a call at the studio! 704-933-5600. Karen will make you feel like a star at your portrait  session! Maybe next year an image of YOU will win an award!

Local Church Gives Back to the Community in a Big Way!

North Kannapolis United Methodist Church is the beautiful stone church across from Brother’s Tires in Kannapolis- you know the one! NKUMC has been my church home since 1987. We are a small family church with usually just over 100 people attending each Sunday.

Well, we may be small in number, but we are BIG in heart! We have been giving Christmas to needy families for 4 years. This year we took it to another level. KNUMC adopted 27 families and 60 children! I know, amazing!!

All the gifts were lined up in the pews- one pew per family!!

All the gifts were chosen especially for each family. Some gifts were badly needed. We realized that one set of parents had been sleeping on the floor. We knew that we had to get them a bed.  One family needed a dryer- they had been drying their clothing with a blow dryer.  Everyone was so appreciative!!

We also added craft time for the kids. While the parents were picking up their gifts and taking them home, the children were having a blast doing crafts and talking with Santa! The families also had a chance to visit our love pantry and choose items from our clothing closet.

We also wanted to sit down and have a meal just like family! So an awesome dinner of turkey, ham, and all the fixins was prepared! Over 300 people were fed.  Liberty Tax donated the turkeys and The Varsity smoked them all! $750 in Food Lion gift cards were also donated. Mind boggling, isn’t it?

One of our members, Tony from The Frosted Butterfly, decorated & donated some beautiful cakes! Check out his handiwork!

There were so many folks who made this event possible! Donna Coone and her son Brian were the leaders who brought the vision to life! Lots of people volunteered to help put bicycles together, deliver furniture, wrap gifts, teach a craft, cook, and serve food.

CMC NorthEast, Suntrust Bank, and Kannapolis Middle School teachers also helped make this Christmas memorable! Phidippides, Lee Clothing Warehouse, Forbo Seigling Company, and WalMart helped out with donations, too!

We all came together as the Body of Christ and carried out this ministry! God is so good and we are surely blessed!

May you feel the peace of this season and count your blessings, too! -Karen

12-1-12 The Perfect Day For A Timeless Outdoor Wedding!

For many months, McKenzie Miller had been planning her dream wedding to her handsome beau Jaymie Russ. I remember meeting her and her mom out at the wedding venue Neveah Estates and she was so excited! Vintage props, burlap, and lace were some of the ideas that swirled around in our heads- it seems like such a long time ago! Well… on December 1st it all came together! The beautiful weather couldn’t have made it any more perfect!

Keeping with the vintage theme, a unique bouquet of brooches was created by McKenzie’s Aunt Shona. All of the brooches were given to McKenzie from bridesmaids, friends, and family! What a cool keepsake to have!

McKenzie was stunning! It was hard not to create incredible images of this beauty!

As you can see, there were awesome, beautiful bridesmaids surrounding McKenzie all day! They were lots of fun, too!

McKenzie is a daddy’s girl- can you tell?

Speaking of daddy’s girl… meet Addisyn , Jaymie’s daughter. What a cutie pie!

The Boyz!

Check out this beautiful new family!

Let’s just get crazy! Don’t you just love it when the wedding party likes to play around?

We had so much fun photographing this fun group of people! We wish the new Mr. & Mrs. Jaymie Russ a wonderful long life full of love and happiness!

N.C. Portrait Photographer Celebrates Grand Lady Turning 106

On October 28th, I had the great pleasure and honor of photographing one of the most beautiful human beings ever, Mrs. Fannie Gaither!

My good friend Courtney called me and asked me if I could photograph her grandma. They were having a birthday party for her grandma and she was turning 106 years old. Yes! That is right… 106 years young as we saw it! She was so sweet and so beautiful! All she did was smile the entire time. Since the family was gathered on this day to celebrate, there were special portraits that the family wanted for sure.

Some of our favorites were Courtney and her daughter Payton with Grandma. Look at those smiles!!

Look at these beautiful ladies! Courtney, her daughter Payton, her mom, sister, and Grandma!

We really enjoyed meeting such a happy, pleasant lady! When I think about my grandma and all the lessons and great wisdom she shared, I know that Mrs. Fannie is a blessing to her family!  Lots of love was overflowing!

Family faces are like magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future.

Love on your family every day, folks! Be blessed! ~Karen

North Carolina Wedding Photographer creates images in the beautiful town of “Faith!”

When we first met Emily and Levi we knew that they would be a lot of fun because they are just great down to earth people. Their engagement session was a bunch of smiles, hugs and snuggles all the while Levi was wearing his favorite ball cap!

October 6th, 2012 was no different, except for the ball cap of course!  We believe that this was absolutely the BEST day of their life! Facebook statuses stated that Emily and Levi were marrying their best friends! Love it! Check below and see the smiles and snuggles!

Details, details, details…

Whenever you say Faith Lutheran Church the first thing you think of are the RED doors!  They are fun to photograph with!

The ladies were too much fun to play with and there was never a dull  moment!  These beautiful ladies were always ready to strike a pose!

Levi and the guys were just as easy going and fun! We just love it when we get to work with super stars!!!!

A group of handsome young men and just  a few jokesters in the group…hee hee!

The reception was breath taking.  We did not expect anything less from Chelish Moore Flowers. All the flowers and decorations were simply amazing.

The reception was such a blast! We knew it would be before we even got there.  Split Second Sound was the dj and entertainment for the evening. They never disappoint! Erin Brown Rocks!!!

We would like to say thank you so much Emily and Levi for choosing Irresistible Portraits to create your special memories of the most important day of your life! We are so honored! Best wishes for a long happy married life!!!

Charlotte Wedding Photographer is honored to photograph the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Shue

8.18.12 was a beautiful day for Preston to marry his friend and soul mate Jessica. They chose the beautiful grounds of The Arbors for their wedding day!  The weather was perfect and the landscape of the grounds was a place any photographer would love to photograph. Gardens and stone work were plentiful. We took advantage of every inch of beauty.

Having known the Shue family for over 20 years, I have had the pleasure of photographing Preston and his sister Nicole many, many times! Yes people, I am old!!! It is such an honor to see Jessica and Preston start a new life together.

The decorations and all the little details could not have been more perfect!  Preston’s mom, Vickie, allowed her talent and creativity to add a little more magic to this perfect day.  The vintage touch of burlap, flowers and mason jars gave it such a down home feel.

One of the most special moments of the entire day was “the First Look” between Preston and his Bride.  There is just something special about the moment the groom sees his beautiful bride for the first time.  Tears were flowing!

As you can imagine, the ceremony was just beautiful!  Karen and her Irresistible Portraits team were so happy to be a part of this awesome union!

What a great day! Two wonderful families coming together to make one. People in love, great food and great music, add a bit of corn hole, and you have the recipe for one awesome wedding!
“Best wishes to the newlyweds and many years of happiness! GOD Bless!” ~Karen

Charlotte wedding photographer creates special memories for extra special bride!

The moment we met Amanda (kindergarten teacher) Cranford we knew that she was extra special. Amanda was the Grand Prize winner of “A Wedding Experience” wedding give-a-way! She cried, hugged and was over joyed! You see, each of the vendors that attended the wedding show gave away a little some thing to make her wedding day complete!
Amanda is one of those ladies that is always smiling, always positive, ready to give you a hug and tell you how much she appreciates  you! Before leaving she hugged our neck and said this relationship is not going to stop!!! How awesome is that!  Through the A Wedding Experience give away Amanda was able to have her perfect wedding day come true. Never did she think that it would have been possible.
Amanda was blessed to marry the man of her dreams and become Mrs. Travis Trexler! She also was blessed to be a new step-mom to Travis’s son Jaxon. It was simply heart warming when Jaxon said his own vows to be united as a family! Tears were flowing!
The Vintage Motor Club was the perfect venue and much fun was had by all. Virtual Sounds and Entertainment was there to rock the reception into the night. Many of the guests will surely remember the fun they had that evening! The IP crew were there to capture those memories for this awesome new family.
Travis, Amanda and Jaxon are on their way to spend a lifetime of happiness together! We wish them the best and feel so honored to have been part of their wedding day!

North Carolina Wedding Photographer Photographs Beautiful Vintage Wedding in the Quaint Town of Gold Hill, NC

On July 7th 2012 Irresistible Portraits headed out to photograph the down home, shabby sheek, vintage wedding of Leah Barrette and Adam Beaver in the beautiful little town of Gold Hill, NC. The bride knew exactly what she wanted her perfect day to look like.  For the past year Leah and her mom put a lot of time and heart  into planning and collecting old vintage pieces for this memorable day. Each table was decorated with it’s own special touch.

Photographing Leah and Adam’s wedding was like stepping back in time.  The scenery around Gold Hill United Methodist Church, where the ceremony took place, was so picturesque!  This, of course, really excited Karen and her Irresistible Portraits team. “Everywhere you looked on the grounds of the church was a photograph waiting to happen” ~Karen~

The wedding party was so much fun…they were all family so good times were had by all. They were willing to do anything that Karen suggested!

Even in the heat of the day they were happy to play! As you can see, stopping traffic was not a problem for this wedding party!

Behind the church was a beautiful field and lots of space to photograph!

What really made this day special is Leah and Adam have known each other since junior high school. Leah’s dream came true on July 7th!  She knew she wanted to marry Adam since she was 12 years old!!! Here’s to LOVE in a big way!  Congratulations to you Adam and Leah!! We wish you many years of happiness!

Meet Me in St. Louis…

Today is a bittersweet day; we are so excited and sad at the same time to see Kitsie leave us and move to the Midwest. Kitsie has been with us since July running our office and front desk. She will be heading out this Wednesday to St. Louis, Missouri to do long term mission work for Atrium Church in Collinsville, Il. Atrium is a new church who will be celebrating their grand opening this Sunday. This church is striving to revitalize a community that needs a change and deep hope; an open space for those to know God.

Check out some of our favorite memories of Miss Kitsie!!!

It’s really hard for Kitsie to go because family is the most important thing, but she knows she is following the path that God has designed for her. Not to mention, moving half-way across the country is no small feat! An entire lifestyle change is in the works and we are excited to see the growth that Kitsie will endure with Him as her only focus!

“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:8

“Kitsie has been such a blessing to IP and we have loved having her here. We know she will bless others as she has blessed us! We love you Kitsie!”

-Karen

Charlotte Wedding Photographer Visits Bride at Local Elementary School

Meet Amanda:

We already knew our beautiful bride, who recently won the Grand Prize at A Wedding Experience, was a special girl. She is so kind and a joy to be around; we wanted to introduce her to you! Miss Cranford, as she is known to her students, teaches kindergarten at Forest Park Elementary School in Kannapolis. Karen and Lindsay recently dropped in on her to see what a day in the life of a teacher was like!

They had a blast, and might have even learned a thing or two! She has been teaching for five years, and her passion shows in her technique and in how much her students adore her!

Amanda and her fiance, Travis, will be getting married in July! We cannot wait to share their special day with them, they are a beautiful couple, on the inside and out! Stay tuned as we continue with the couple on their journey to matrimony!

Charlotte Photographer Announces New Products for 2012

We are so excited for all of the new and exciting things planned for 2012! Some of which include awesome new products! We couldn’t wait to share these sneak peeks with you!

Image Blocks are SO fabulous! This system allows you to chose either one image or multiple image blocks arranged as a collage floating on top of the base. The image blocks are soft, satin-based photographic prints wrapped around a wooden base which gives a contemporary look. The best part about this new type of print is that the blocks are interchangeable, which means you can easily remove the floating blocks to create a new look or update the images. There are 11 different single block sizes and 16 different collage options! These are just too awesome!

We introduced slim wraps in our February email, but check them out again! Slim wraps are extremely similar to our gallery wraps, but are mounted on a foam board instead of a wooden base. They are a more up-to-date look that are also less expensive than the gallery wraps! Ranging from 8×10 to 16×24, slim wraps are a current look that we know you will love! Also, don’t forget, we are offering 20% off on slim wraps during the month of February! Your perfect opportunity to get this hot new product at an incredible price!

A Wedding Experience was an experience to remember! We were so excited to see Karen’s creative vision for a new type of wedding show bloom before our eyes! This show was different than your average show because it was presented as an actual wedding reception. Our bride, Lindsay, was able to join her family for her real wedding reception in which our vendors were able to showcase their talents!

Hope’s Bridal hosted a fashion show where they featured a number of the bridal and bridesmaid gowns. We were extremely appreciative of Hope’s for not only hosting the fashion show, but for also providing dresses to our wedding party!

Of course the food provided by Plain or Fancy Catering was beyond fabulous! Gary and his team never cease to amaze us with all their yummy food!

Each new bride that joined us for the show had the opportunity to chat with vendors and witness firsthand the services they provide in an actual reception atmosphere. They also had the opportunity to take home the grand prize, which totaled over $13,000 in services & prizes!

Charlotte Photographer Rocks Nashville Wedding

Last Friday, Karen & Lindsay photographed the wedding of Melanie Maher and Derek Dombroski in Nashville Tennessee! They were married at the beautiful Brentwood United Methodist Church.

Melanie and Derek are so in love, you can tell by the way they look at each other. Melanie’s mom always jokes around about them being the “real” Barbie & Ken…and boy do they fit the part!

The reception was held at the War Memorial Auditorium- which was FABULOUS! Classic architecture created the perfect backdrop for their fairy tale wedding.

Photography was a priority for Melanie which meant Karen & Lindsay got to meet up with the couple the day after their wedding for another shoot in downtown Nashville! You know Karen was in heaven!

Thank you so much to Melanie, Derek, and their families for letting IP be a part of their big day. We had a blast & can’t wait to share more special moments with you in the future!

Charlotte Wedding Photographer Visits John Boy & Billy’s Big Show

Karen recently joined everyone’s favorite radio hosts, John Boy & Billy for a little radio interview! She was joined by Gary of Plain or Fancy Catering to talk about our super exciting new wedding show coming this January!

A Wedding Experience is not your average wedding show. The vendors will get the chance to showcase their trades as if it were a real wedding reception, instead of standing at a booth. Taste the food. Groove to the music. See the photographer in action.
Admission is $10 and you’ll get the chance to receive free wedding services with each vendor donating towards a grand prize. With each vendor you visit at AWE, your chances to win the donated services will increase! The grand prize winner will be drawn at the end of the show and the winner must be present.

A.W.E  will be hosted by the areas top wedding vendors, including: Irresistible Portraits by Karen Goforth, Plain or Fancy Catering, C.C & Co. Salon & Spa, Hope’s Bridal, BK Entertainment & Anna M Productions, and The Loft at 14th. With more vendors being announced, this is bound to be a show for the books! You don’t want to miss out!

Thanks so much to everyone at John Boy & Billy Radio and of course Gary from Plain or Fancy for all the yummy food! Karen had an absolute blast! …She just might have found her second calling, she sure sounded like a natural! If you missed her interview check out the link below!

Charlotte Photographer Visits Local Elementary School with Guests NFL Charlotte Panthers

Karen and Lindsay had the privilege of joining the Charlotte Panthers in celebration of Stanfield Elementary. They were recently awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the NFL and IP was there with cameras ready!!

Play 60 is the NFL’s focus on national youth health and fitness campaign which promotes being active for at least 60 minutes each day. Created in 2007, the NFL has dedicated over $200 million to youth health and wellness. Stanfield Elementary School was chosen as a 2011 Regional Champion and awarded a scholarship to help purchase equipment for their physical education department.

A big congratulations to the Stanfield Elementary Wildcats! What an awesome thing to be awarded! Thanks for letting us be included on your big day!

Charlotte Photographer Photographs Cabarrus Dance Academy’s 24th Annual Christmas Ballet

IP was so privileged to recently photograph Cabarrus Dance Academy’s 24th Annual Christmas Ballet. Over the past few decades CDA has been preforming a ballet benefiting the Coltrane LIFE Center.

Each year the dancers perform the Nativity Ballet and one of a few favorite Christmas stories; this year was “The Snow Angel”. There were also a few exciting additions to the ballet this year including a performance from CDA’s liturgical dance class,  a swingin’ group of shag dancers, and as always a stunning number from the Lee-ettes.

The really special thing about the ballet is admission is by donation- all proceeds are donated to the Coltrane LIFE Center which is a non-profit adult day health center. They provide programs, activities, care and supervision to older and disabled adults without being placed in a nursing home environment. This year, CDA raised more than ever, an astonishing $4,000 from simply placing a basket at the door of the auditorium! What a special gift!

Thanks again to Miss Tammy and the dancers of Cabarrus Dance for letting us share the evening with you! We had a blast!
